Previously, Libya was mentioned as a possible location for a new Russian base in the Mediterranean Sea.

Russia has begun to gradually withdraw its troops from Syria . At least some of this equipment is being transferred to a Russian base in Libya. This is the conclusion of Israeli military expert Yigal Levin, analyzing recent satellite images.

The pictures themselves were published today on the social network X by Radio Liberty journalist Mark Krutov. They show the Russian air base in the city of Al-Jufra (Libya). The pictures show the moment of loading or unloading of an Il-76 transport plane, as well as new objects that are likely radars.

“It is currently unclear whether the Russians will expand their presence in Libya, or whether this is a temporary point for storing equipment until it is transferred to the Russian Federation by ships. The Al-Jufra base itself is not completely safe – the country is in the midst of a civil war, and a year ago, one Russian Il-76 was destroyed by a missile or drone strike,” notes Yigal Levin .
