North Korean troops suffer losses in Kursk region: GUR names first figures

Russia has begun using North Korean soldiers in assault operations in the Kursk region , and they have already suffered their first losses, the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine reports .

According to the report, North Korean soldiers are fighting as part of combined units of the Russian Armed Forces’ Marine Corps and Airborne Troops and have already suffered their first medical and irreparable losses as a result of a successful fire defeat inflicted by the Defense Forces.

Thus, at one of the positions, the fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “covered” the soldiers of the DPRK army with FPV drones.

“The estimated losses of units manned by Russian and North Korean personnel as of December 14, 2024 are about 200 servicemen,” the report says.

In addition, intelligence adds that the language barrier complicates management and coordination of actions in the process of using North Korean troops on the front.

“Due to the above-mentioned problem, North Korean soldiers opened “friendly fire” on the vehicles of the “Akhmat” battalion. The result was eight “Kadyrov’s supporters” killed,” the GUR said.

In addition, it is noted that a special counterintelligence regime has been introduced in the locations where North Korean soldiers are stationed – to allow Russian soldiers and officers into these areas, FSB agents check them, and phones and other devices are confiscated.
