The Russians struck a double blow and completely destroyed the Amstor shopping center in Zaporizhia, which is part of the Smart Urban group of companies.

This was reported by the investment industrial group “Smart-Holding”.

Double strike on a civilian object

According to the company, after the first hit, the enemy struck again at a time when rescuers were already working at the scene. There were no deaths or injuries as a result of the attack.

The company notes that this was a deliberate attempt to completely destroy a civilian infrastructure facility.

This shopping center continued to operate despite daily shelling, providing jobs and serving thousands of residents of the front-line Zaporizhzhia. This is the second shopping center of the company to be destroyed in one week.

Problems with business recovery

The company also raised the issue of the further survival and reconstruction of enterprises that are being destroyed by the actions of the occupiers.

According to group representatives, full-fledged activities and business restoration are additionally hindered by state sanctions imposed on the former owners.

As Censor.NET previously reported, on the evening of September 22, Russia attacked Zaporizhia . The strike caused a fire in a shopping center in the city’s Southern neighborhood.

Closing of retail chains in Zaporizhia

As a reminder, the Polish brand Sinsay, owned by LPP Group, is suspending the operation of its stores in the city for a month .

In addition, the City Mall shopping and entertainment complex in Zaporizhia announced that it will not operate until the end of September.

The media reported on preparations for the closure of the Epicenter shopping centers in Zaporizhia and Odessa. The partners were allegedly instructed to remove the remaining goods as soon as possible.

At the same time, German retailer METRO temporarily suspended the operation of its shopping center in Zaporizhia from August 1, 2026 .

Shopping mall losses

In particular, in Ukraine, since the beginning of this year, three shopping malls have been destroyed and 9 more damaged as a result of Russian shelling as of August 2026. Direct losses to the industry from Russian attacks this year reached UAH 3.226 billion ($72.5 million).

Meanwhile, the number of visitors to shopping malls in Ukraine has sharply decreased after massive Russian attacks on such facilities. This could lead to a drop in sales, and tenants will not be able to pay rent.
