Russia, China, West should serve as security guarantors for Ukraine – Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed that Moscow allegedly supports providing Ukraine with security guarantees, but that Kyiv must abandon its intention to join NATO

He said this at a press conference on August 20, according to BBC Russian Service.

According to Lavrov, the security guarantors for Ukraine should be the permanent members of the UN Security Council: Russia, China, the United States, the United Kingdom, and France.

“We support these guarantees being truly reliable,” Lavrov said in response to a question from journalists about security guarantees for Ukraine, which were discussed at recent summits (during the meeting of Russian and U.S. leaders in Alaska, as well as in Washington negotiations involving Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Donald Trump, and European politicians).

At the same time, Lavrov called the previous agreements, which he claimed were reached during the Russia-Ukraine talks in Istanbul in April 2022, a “good example.”

Among the principles mentioned at that time, the Russian foreign minister listed Ukraine’s renunciation of joining NATO or any other military alliances, and confirmation of Ukraine’s neutral and non-nuclear status.

  • Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claimed that Russia “never sought to seize Ukrainian territory”, but only aimed to “protect Russians.”

  1. Lavrov is the spokesman for putinaZi occupiers; a terrible murder gang that has inflicted death, misery and agonising pain on innocent people for no reason at all, other than toxic hatred and desire for imperial domination.
All the members of this vile gang are fluent liars.
Peace will come only when they are defeated.
You can’t negotiate with savages who have come to kill you.

  2. “We support these guarantees being truly reliable,”

Of course! This would like asking a pedo run a daycare centre.
