The army of the aggressor country, russia, will allegedly cease fire in the Kherson sector starting October 27 to conduct a humanitarian operation in the occupied city of Oleshky in the Kherson Region.
Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the russian armed forces, made this announcement on Friday, October 23.
“In connection with the humanitarian operation, a ceasefire will be declared in the Kherson sector and a ‘quiet period’ will be introduced starting at 4:00 a.m. on October 27, 2026,” russian media quoted him as saying.
According to Gerasimov, the “ceasefire” is being implemented to ensure the safety of people and the delivery of socially essential cargo. To this end, the occupying forces intend to conduct engineering reconnaissance and ensure the safe passage of the humanitarian convoy.
The town of Oleshky is located on the left bank of the Kherson Region. It was occupied by the russian army in the early days of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

After the liberation of Kherson in November 2022, Oleshky and the surrounding settlements became a zone of active combat operations. The city is actively used by the occupiers to launch attacks on Kherson and other settlements on the right bank of the region.
As the Ukrainian News agency previously reported, earlier today, October 23, US First Lady Melania Trump stated that Ukraine and russia, through her mediation, had agreed to a local ceasefire to facilitate the evacuation from Oleshky.
