As of the morning of October 24, restrictions on Starlink operations in Ukraine have been lifted. The terminals began operating at speeds of over 161 km/h.

This was confirmed by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. And Defense Minister Yevheniy Khmara, in a comment to journalists, stated that the terminals provide stable communication at speeds of over 400 km/h.

What is known

Defense Minister Yevheniy Khmara officially confirmed the lifting of restrictions on Starlink operations in Ukraine.

“The monitoring systems of the Ministry of Defense record the restoration of the Starlink/Starshield speed. We record a speed of more than 400 km/h, the connection is stable. This is another example when direct dialogue and the persistent position of the President of Ukraine at the highest level produce results. And this result is primarily important for our front, for the military, the work of drones, logistics and communications. The Ministry of Defense continues to monitor and record the work of Starlink/Starshield,” the Minister of Defense emphasized.

In the morning, OBOZ.UA sources in the defense department reported: as of the morning of October 24, the Defense Forces of Ukraine and specialists from the Ministry of Defense recorded that Starlink/Starshield began operating at a speed of over 161 km/h.

“We continue to monitor and conduct checks at higher speeds, determine upper limits, and determine to what extent this connection has actually been restored,” the defense ministry said.

Well-known volunteer and blogger Serhiy Sternenko “reservedly optimistically” confirmed this message.

“Several units reported that communication at speeds over 160 km/h has been restored. It will take time to draw final conclusions, but it is clear: the public awareness of the problem and pressure within the US have worked,” he noted.

Recall that Ukraine had problems with Starlink during movement; it became known on the morning of October 14. The restrictions affected the military package and disrupted a number of important missions. In particular, the restrictions affected Ukraine’s ability to deliver medium-range strikes, as well as defend against strikes by Russian jet drones.

After reports of what happened, a bipartisan group of congressmen (including seven Republicans) called on Trump and Musk to lift Starlink restrictions for Ukraine.

Subsequently, lawmakers from both parties in the US House of Representatives and the Senate also sent a letter to US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. The signatories of the letter called on the Pentagon to remove restrictions on the operation of Starlink and Starshield for Ukraine, ensure the stability of communications for the Defense Forces, and expand the contract within the military communications package – in particular, to provide Ukraine with the necessary geographical coverage of satellite communications for conducting legitimate military operations, including over the territory of Russia.

After the restrictions were introduced, some American media outlets wrote that it was the billionaire who personally ordered Ukraine’s access to Starshield to be restricted. Others insisted that the White House could not have done it without it.

US Vice President J.D. Vance also blamed Musk for the outages. At the same time, Musk himself stated that the Pentagon is responsible for the operation of the military version of Starlink.

The day before, OBOZ.UA reported that Trump said that Musk had lifted restrictions on Starlink for Ukraine. This allegedly happened on Thursday, the day after his call to the billionaire.

However, the Ukrainian military, as well as advisers to the President of Ukraine Serhiy Beskrestnov and Dmytro Lytvyn, denied the resumption of full operation of the terminals. On Friday evening, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also stated that the restrictions remain in place.

  1. An x amount of innocent civilians were killed by this restriction. Those responsible must face trial for at least aiding and abetting murder. There is no justice if this doesn’t happen. Hoping for the blue tsunami on Nov. 3rd to make it happen!

  2. Not one of these russian lovers is man enough to admit they are the ones responsible. What a shameful bunch of terrorist enablers.
