RT says BoJo utters motto of “Ukrainian Nazi collaborators” on independence day video

To begin Ukraine’s Independence Day, let’s start off by remembering why this is an important day.  The best weapon against Putin’s imperialistic fascism is a prosperous and democratic Ukraine.  This is why his propaganda machine works 24/7 attacking Ukrainians.

Britain’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson, in a video greeting to Ukrainians to mark the country’s upcoming independence day, uttered a slogan that was once considered the watchword of Ukraine’s ultra-nationalist camp.

The video was posted on Twitter by the Ukrainian Embassy in the UK on Friday, and features a series of high-profile British political figures reciting the words of “Ukraine,” a song by cultural icon Taras Petrinenko, for the country’s 28th independence anniversary.

Topping off the video greeting, however, is PM Johnson, who bellows “Slava Ukraini!,” or “Glory to Ukraine!” before the British pols finish the slogan in unison: “Heroyam slava!” (“Glory to the heroes!”).

Though the phrase has enjoyed more common usage in recent years – it was adopted as the official greeting for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and National Police last year – its origins are more controversial. First cropping up among various armed factions in the country’s war of independence in the early years of the 20th century, the slogan was picked up by Ukraine’s ultra-nationalists (Patriots) during the Second World War, including those who (RT says) worked in collaboration with Nazi Germany.

One of the most prominent groups among them was a break-off cell of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) led by militant (Patriot) Stepan Bandera, who (RT says) worked alongside the Gestapo and Nazi intelligence agencies.

The slogan saw a revival during Ukraine’s 2014 ‘Euromaidan’ revolution, in which ultra-nationalist parties – some inspired by Bandera’s OUN – spearheaded street battles with police, and has since come to be accepted among more moderate political figures, including the country’s previous president, Petro Poroshenko, as well as its current leader Volodymyr Zelensky.

  1. Strange that on top of that ‘collaborator’ kremkrapp they forgot to mention the biggest nazi collaborator of all time : Stalin. They also forgot to mention that their tiny
fuehrer putler runs a nazi regime that competes with both hitler and Stalin for pure, concentrated evil.

  2. I should like to see this video, but cannot locate it. I don’t have Twitter. Can anyone upload it or post a link? Thanks chaps!

  3. Just reading on RT that Tusk wants to invite Ukraine as guest to next years G7 meeting. The trolls are spitting feathers, forgetting that Muscovy are not even in the top 10 most technologically advanced countries, or economic powerhouses.

  4. There is a good reason why some factions in Ukraine aligned with some of the Germans during the second world war. The old saying ‘My enemy’s enemy is my friend.’ There was a possibility that the Germans would get rid of the Ivans and that suited Ukraine. The getting rid of the Germans could be sorted out later.

The greeting was used long before Nazism came about, so to claim it is a Nazi greeting is stupid and ignorant.

If there was a choice between being a Nazi or a Commie, Fuck, I’ll be a Nazi thanks.

Slava Ukraini is always my first toast in Ukraine unless someone else has already done it.
