The second plant is also almost built, the director of the concern notes.

The German arms concern Rheinmetall is building four plants in Ukraine, and the first of them is already operating. This was stated by the concern’s director Armin Papperger in an interview with TSN .

“We currently have a manufacturing plant and a service plant. By the end of the year, we will already have the first state-of-the-art Lynx infantry fighting vehicle in Ukraine,” he said, adding that the company owns 51% of the shares of this enterprise.

Papperger noted that Rheinmetall is on track to build a gunpowder plant, an ammunition plant in Ukraine, and also plans to establish production of air defense systems.

“Things are moving forward. The first plant is ready. The second is on its way. And now I insist on speeding up all this, because we have no time, we must not waste it,” he noted.

He also explained in detail what the capacity of these plants would be.

“Production line No. 1 will be aimed at tanks. The capabilities of gunpowder production and ammunition will be aimed at double or even triple production according to NATO standards, which you do not have at the moment… There will also be production of artillery and ammunition for tanks there,” Papperger shared.

Rheinmetall in Ukraine

In March, it became known that Rheinmetall would build four weapons factories in Ukraine . It is noted that the future enterprises will produce shells, military equipment, gunpowder and air defense weapons.

The concern subsequently reported that the first shells could roll off the assembly line in Ukraine in 15 months.
