Oleksandr Kovalenko does not exclude that the GUR of the Ministry of Defense will start destroying T-14 “Armata” tanks.

The first-ever destruction of a modern Russian Su-57 fighter jet by the Ukrainian military proves that there are no unattainable goals for the Armed Forces.

“Thanks to the meticulous work of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, on June 8, on the territory of the airfield “Akhtubinsk” in the Astrakhan region, 589 km from the line of combat, a multifunctional fighter, allegedly of the fifth generation, Su-57 was hit!” – wrote military and political commentator Oleksandr Kovalenko in his Telegram channel.

The analyst emphasizes that for the Russians what happened is a reputational disgrace that can be compared to the destruction of such aircraft as the A-50 or Tu-95MS.

“We can talk for a long time about the extent to which the Su-57 does not correspond to the class of the fifth-generation fighter, but in this case the technical side is not so important as the reputational side,” the expert emphasizes.

Kovalenko does not rule out that the GUR of the Ministry of Defense will begin to destroy T-14 “Armata” tanks, which were never in range, but will start burning in Russia itself.

“Here, the fried Su-57 is a direct example of the fact that nothing is impossible!” – said Kovalenko.

Destruction of the Su-57 – what is known

The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced that the most modern Russian Su-57 fighter jet was hit for the first time . In particular, on June 8, a Su-57 multi-purpose fighter of the aggressor state was hit on the territory of the Akhtubinsk airfield in the Astrakhan region, located 589 kilometers from the line of combat.

The destruction of the plane is confirmed by satellite images of the plane parking at the airfield – at the place of the plane that was fixed the day before, craters from the explosion and characteristic spots of fire.

The Su-57 is Moscow’s most modern fighter, capable of using Kh-59 and Kh-69 missiles for strikes. There are a few units of such combat aircraft in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces.

  1. I hope the Ukrainians will be burning Tu-95s, Su-34/35s, and Mig-31s instead of T-14s. Those planes pose a far bigger threat.
