Reduce the Ukrainian Armed Forces by 60%: The Economist reveals cynical details of the US “peace plan”

The “peace agreement” looks like Russia’s wish list.

New details have emerged in the media about the so-called 28-point “peace plan” developed by the United States jointly with Russia – without the participation of Ukrainians or Europeans.

Thus, according to sources at The Economist , the plan confirms many maximalist demands known from previous Russian proposals, and adds several new ones, and “is practically a demand for Ukraine’s capitulation.”

In particular, the plan calls for a reduction in the number of Ukrainian troops to 40% of the current level (that is, to approximately 300 thousand from the current 800 thousand) – without a corresponding reduction on the part of Russia.

Ukraine will also be banned from possessing several classes of weapons, including long-range systems capable of reaching Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Foreign troops will not be allowed into Ukrainian territory, and aircraft used by foreign diplomats will be banned from flying to Ukraine.

“This calls into question Russia’s intentions regarding Ukrainian airspace,” the article notes.

Ukraine will also have to declare Russian as the second state language and restore the Russian Orthodox Church.

It is unclear how widely this proposal was circulated within the Trump administration or whether it was primarily the personal initiative of Trump’s special representative, Steve Witkoff, as some sources in the publication suggest.

It’s also unclear what the purpose of such a plan is, beyond embarrassing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a time of weakness. Sources close to the Ukrainian presidential administration fear the timing could indicate that some in America are exploiting the corruption crisis to push Ukraine into making unwarranted concessions, The Economist notes:

“At the same time, military analysts do not believe Ukraine’s situation is so desperate that Volodymyr Zelenskyy would be forced to agree to such harsh conditions.”

The US Peace Plan – What Else Is Known?

According to the Wall Street Journal, the peace plan’s demands include  Ukraine’s renunciation of peacekeeping forces and its membership in NATO for several years. In exchange, Moscow allegedly pledges not to attack Ukraine or other European countries and will enshrine this promise in law.

According to The Telegraph, Kyiv will cede control of Donbas but retain ownership.  Russia will pay rent for control of the region .

  1. “According to The Telegraph, Kyiv will cede control of Donbas but retain ownership. ”

You mean just like Sevastopol? How did that turn out?

  2. How about handing over Alaska to the mafia state, while remaining the “owner”? How about having done this with Adolf Hitler … surrender a chunk of your land and reduce your military and surrender your best weapons? Doing so with Vlad is exactly the same thing.
Can this administration possibly be any more brainless? I mean, empty skulls can’t get any emptier, can they? Or is it just pure evilness?
