🚨 Reality check: this is where Ukraine’s defenders are stuck
— because we didn’t stop 𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚 in time.
Pokrovsk is being encircled in front of our eyes,
with Ukrainian defenders still there.
Did you know that the author of “Shchedryk” (Carol of the Bells) was born in Pokrovsk?
The situation in Pokrovsk is on the edge of critical and keeps getting worse — to the point that soon it might be too late to fix.
🙏 I hope and pray that everyone will stay alive.
I don’t know whether they will get an order to leave (it’s 30 km of open steppe).
I don’t know what further actions will be taken to save lives.
But what I know for sure is our ability to contribute.
We must take action that depends on us — to give them opportunities to defend themselves: vans, drones (FPV and Mavic), electronic warfare equipment, medical kits, tourniquets…
Ukrainian defenders told me yesterday that 𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 have no limits to what they are getting — they have abundance and full capacity to use it, giving them a significant advantage.

Based on the information I have read, the situation is difficult and Russia is constantly attacking, with up to 160 combat engagements per day. The Ukrainians are fighting bravely and wisely, but the situation is very difficult. Please help if you can.
Pokrovsk shouldn’t be fighting for survival alone. The world must understand -every drone, every van, every medical kit can mean someone’s life. Thank you for not letting people forget what’s really happening right now.

Dear internationals, get rid of your rose-coloured glasses! There is simply too much blind belief in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
😱 “𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐚𝐲, 𝐘𝐚𝐧𝐚?” First, I often see only belief and confidence in Ukraine expressed through words – but Ukraine will not stand only with words of support, nor for a long period of time. (A reminder: it’s been more than 3.5 years of full-scale invasion.)
Secondly, believing in Ukrainians without acting yourself is a double standard — it puts you in a position without agency and makes us, Ukrainians, weaker – it threatens us all.
I think 1️⃣ We must not underestimate 𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚.
2️⃣ Ukraine will not stand much longer on motivation and determination of ordinary civilians alone. It works for a short time – driven by adrenaline – but not forever. Specifically YOU cannot rely on THIS.
3️⃣ We must put our confidence in 𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲. There must be a systematic strategy and real actions, not just volunteer efforts.
4️⃣ We must stay united – because we’ve already seen 𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚 occupy Europe once. Do we really want to see it happen again? Please, share our voice and consider making charitable contributions to the Ukrainian organizations.

Powerful message, Yana. Blind optimism helps no one – action does. Ukraine doesn’t need empty faith, it needs consistent support, strategy, and real investment in defense.

Finland has now started collecting money for Ukrainians in a new way. Billboards next to Finnish Helsinki bus and tram stops will display if a drone or missile control alarm is activated Ukraine in one of the big six cities.
Finland’s Finlandia Hall is once again organizing an event to help Ukraine. This time it’s an evening of songs. Also featuring war heroes from the Ukrainian and Finnish wars.
The main organizer has visited Ukraine several times with her husband to deliver humanitarian aid and help citizens.
Finland will purchase anti-aircraft missiles for Ukraine through NATO – US for 100 million euros. Finland also sending the next defense package, which is already the 30th. The total value of the packages is 2.9 billion euros.

Yana great post. Sadly, our politicians are not very reliable. So simple ordinary people have to help and not everyone can do so. Sharing and influencing others to help WE CAN ALL DO and SHOULD DO. As for me I am coming to Kiev. I hope in my own small way to help as much as I can. Keep going. Your work. Christine’s work. Leo’s work and that of Ellen and many others helps us a great deal, because there is so much we do not know or understand. Anyway, enough words.
I hope when I am in Kiev to have the opportunity to say Hi.
Thank you Yana for reminding others that Ukraine needs support much more than praises. If every praise become a shell flying into ruzzia’s targets… war would be over long time ago.
It’s easier to wake up the dead than European politicians. Even after almost four stinking years of war, we still see too little, too late. And Merz turned out to be a slightly better Scholz. First, he opened his big mouth proclaiming he would send Taurus missiles to the beleaguered country, but we hear only crickets after he took office. And so on.
