he Russian elite are terrified. Yesterday, the central apparatus of the KGB descended on St. Petersburg to arrest Ilya Traber, a 75-year-old billionaire and a foundational figure from the 1990s ecosystem where Vladimir Putin’s power network was born. The KGB clearly did not trust local authorities; they immediately moved Traber to Moscow, where he was placed in pre-trial detention. Officially, Traber and his longstanding business partner, Vladimir Danilenko, are facing charges related to the October 2020 murder of Vyborg businessman and politician Alexander Petrov. However, Traber also controls a massive 31.66% stake in the Primorsk deep-water Baltic port—a highly strategic asset. Investigative outlets have previously described Traber as the only living crime boss Putin admitted knowing. For decades, he was completely untouchable. So why is the Kremlin suddenly activating a 6-year-old murder case to destroy him? In this episode of INSIDE RUSSIA, we break down the 9 glaring oddities of this unprecedented arrest. This is not about justice. This is about a shrinking war economy, an aggressive infrastructure grab, and a clear signal from the Kremlin to the oligarchy: your old protection pacts are dead.

  1. Elvira Nabiullina is still missing too. Yet the mafia bank cut interest rates today, so who cut them, putler?

    • Both Putler and Taco love low interest rates, so Putler, at least, applied enough pressure to achieve that, if not ordering directly.
