Putin has been at the top levels of Kremlin power for a quarter-of-a-century and has proven himself to be an adept survivor, who has always been able to get ahead of the curve, beating out his opponents, to preserve his power.
However, Putin who turns 72 next month, is facing new problems that include an oligarchy that is increasingly counting on his eventual death to open the doors for their own rise to power. Will it push the oligarchy to rebel against Putin, or perhaps there is something even more dangerous lurking in the shadows of Moscow?
The Russian military, historically, is not known to coup or to overthrow their leader – an important predictor that they are unlikely to do so. However, recent moves by Putin – to take power away from the military, giving it now to the FSB – coupled with the FSB’s crackdown and arrest of military officers for corruption, are putting Putin into a corner.
This is what may happen next.

Jason is the right guy in the right place at the right time. His analytical thinking is excellent. Unfortunately though it’s hard to see the end of putler at the moment. But even if someone does find the courage, what are the chances of his replacement being even partially human?
In putlerworld, the best one could hope for is someone less psychopathic, like maybe Abramovich.
Whether the little sewer rat remains in power or not … if he gets overthrown now, gets killed, or dies later is all moot. We know that a bloodthirsty ghoul rules in muscovy now, but no one knows who will rule after the rat’s eventual demise. Most likely, nothing better will come after the short fascist.
What is more important and the most relevant now is a military defeat of the crime syndicate’s criminal cockroach army. Then, whether the rat remains in power or who comes next doesn’t matter. Their teeth and claws will have been pulled.
Alas, many of the idiots in power across the free world still have problems putting two and two together. I long for the days of Reagan or Churchill.
