Lakiychuk called the truce announced by the Russian dictator “a pass to Trump from Putin.”

By declaring an “Easter truce” for 30 hours, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin trolled US President Donald Trump, but he does not understand or does not want to understand this trolling.

Pavlo Lakiychuk, head of security projects at the Strategy 21 Center for Global Studies, said this in an interview with Ukrainian Radio .

Commenting on the “truce” announced by the Russian ruler, the expert said that “this is a kind of pass to Trump from Putin.” 

“Moreover, Trump does not understand or does not want to understand Putin’s trolling all the time. A month later, Putin responded to the US president’s proposal for a 30-day truce with a 30-hour one, which he did not intend to adhere to and does not intend to do,” Lakiychuk noted.

As for the position of the US administration, according to him, “it puts Ukraine’s interests on the back burner,” and is more interested in “another reboot with Putin.”

“This time they are trying to press this ‘reset button’, despite the fact that the Russian Federation has been waging a war of aggression for several years, ignoring the UN Charter and international law. And Trump, apparently on the advice of his advisor Witkoff (Steve Witkoff, special representative of the US president, – ed.), considers such actions by the Russian Federation to be quite acceptable,” the expert explained. 

On the other hand, he says, the Americans and Putin thought they “could divide the world in two,” but did not take into account the position of the Europeans:

“They thought it was inappropriate to pay attention to it, saying that the Europeans would do whatever we said. But it turned out that way.”
