Russia does not seek to abandon the use of the dollar as a universal means of payment. This was stated at the SPIEF by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

We are not looking to get rid of the dollar. If you heard something that I was talking about the dollar and understood that we want to get rid of it as a reserve currency or as a universal means of payment, this is not the case.

At the same time, Putin said that the United States is using the dollar as a means of sanctions policy, so Russia is forced to reduce the number of settlements in American currency.
