The United States, with the participation of Ukraine and Europe, developed a 22-point peace plan that envisaged an end to the war between Ukraine and Russia. However, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin refused to discuss these peace initiatives.

According to three sources, senior Russian officials told US President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff last week that Putin did not want to discuss the 22-point peace plan that Witkoff developed with the participation of representatives of Ukraine and Europe.

This reportedly led Trump’s special envoy to postpone his next trip to Putin this week, although a person close to him claims that no further trip was planned at all.

The plan that Witkoff brought and wanted to discuss included 22 points. The following day, Ukrainian and American officials discussed the same points during a telephone conversation.

Ukraine was represented in the conversation by the Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak and the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, and the United States by Witkoff, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg.

It is currently unknown what kind of peace plan the FT is writing about. Previously, the media only reported on the Ukraine and Europe plan that was conveyed to Trump.

After that, the pace of diplomatic activity picked up, the publication writes. European and Ukrainian leaders met to call for an unconditional 30-day ceasefire, warning Putin of tough new sanctions if he did not comply with the US-backed demand.

Journalists also noted that the Russian dictator’s reluctance to engage in major peace talks has become more apparent in recent days, even to those in Donald Trump’s administration who previously viewed Putin with understanding.

According to officials familiar with the negotiations, Vladimir Putin took a big risk last week by slowly pushing American negotiators toward a peace proposal and then refusing to come to talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Turkey that he himself publicly initiated.
