US President Donald Trump said that during personal talks with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin he received guarantees that he would not sell weapons to Iran. In turn, Washington will not directly arm Ukraine.
Trump wrote about this on his page on the social network, Censor.NET reports .
Agreements with Xi Jinping and Putin on Iran
Describing his meetings with the leaders of China and Russia, Trump emphasized that he had reached agreements to isolate the Iranian regime from military-technical assistance:
” President Xi told me during our recent meeting in Beijing, China, that he would not, under any circumstances, provide or sell weapons to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Given our relationship, I take his word for it, and I am also doing him a very big favor .”
According to Trump, the Russian dictator “understands” that the US is selling weapons not to Ukraine, but to NATO countries (this refers to the allies’ purchase of American weapons for Kyiv under the PURL program ):
“Similarly, President Putin, despite the terrible war going on in Ukraine (relations remain the same as with President Zelensky), told me that he would not sell weapons to Iran. He understands that I am selling weapons not to Ukraine, but to NATO countries. They pay full price, and how exactly these weapons are distributed, I have no idea,” he wrote.
The US leader added that Beijing or Moscow’s involvement in military support for Tehran would be categorically contrary to their own national interests, because otherwise “it would be very bad for them.”

- As a reminder, on July 23, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov held a meeting.
- Russian minister calls on US not to “pump” Ukraine with weapons.
