After Trump spoiled Putin with his attention, the Russian leader will feel like he has shown the world that he is back where he belongs.

At a joint press conference between Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and the US president, there was not even talk of a ceasefire in Ukraine. But Putin clearly hinted that if it were not for the Ukrainian issue, Washington and Moscow could have wonderful relations.
As The Telegraph writes , Putin was the first to deliver a speech that could have been written a year ago, and tried to provide as many examples of points of contact with Trump as possible.
The Kremlin ruler saw the meeting as a “new stage in relations” between the two countries, opening up opportunities for trade, space exploration, Arctic exploration and much more, if only that pesky Ukrainian issue could be overcome, as he hinted.
“It is important for our countries to turn the page,” he said.Read also:
“Of course, he desperately wants the page on ‘war’ to be turned. He lashed out at Joe Biden and said there would be no problems in Ukraine if Trump were president in 2022. It was as obvious as it was depressing,” the publication wrote.
“In his (very short) response, Trump called Putin “boss,” which caused a stir in the audience. This was not what those who wanted to hold Putin accountable for his war against Ukraine wanted to hear,” the publication emphasized.
And then Putin said: “In general, and I agree with President Trump, that, naturally, Ukraine’s security must also be ensured.”
“A blunder on Putin’s part? He usually denies that Ukraine has a voice, that it is an independent sovereign state. This was a rare case, but it did not matter much,” the publication believes.
“In conclusion, Putin invited Trump to Moscow and that was the end of it. The two men left the stage without speaking to or greeting reporters. No deal, no ceasefire, no accountability,” the newspaper stated.
Regarding Putin’s reception on American soil, the publication noted that the White House staged a real spectacle: on the ground – a red carpet, in the air – a formation flyover of five planes.
“The sight of American soldiers kneeling in front of Putin’s plane to secure the red carpet on the runway is a sight that will horrify many,” the publication wrote about the meeting.
The article points out that when this circus was coming to an end, Putin managed to get a handshake from the US President. He will feel that he has shown the world that the Russian Federation has returned to where it belongs – at the top table of world politics. He will be glad that his actions have remained without consequences.
“If European leaders do not take any action in support of Ukraine after this, they will have to answer to history,” the publication stated.
Putin and Trump talks
On August 15, talks were held in Alaska between Kremlin ruler Putin and American President Trump. Ahead of the talks, Trump said he would seek a ceasefire in Ukraine and would agree with the Russian dictator on a three-way meeting – Zulensky, Putin and Trump himself.
