Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin acknowledged that Russia’s Zircon missile has accuracy problems and vowed that Russia would continue to improve it, speaking at a July 26 meeting with Russian Navy personnel, according to Russian media.

“New means of destruction and protection are emerging. What is one “Zircon” worth? There is still work to be done with it, to look at its accuracy. Recent applications have shown that it is becoming more and more accurate. Few countries in the world have such weapons, and not only do we have them, we are improving them and will continue to do so,” Putin said.

In addition, the dictator emphasized the special role of the Russian Navy. He recalled that the Navy is one of the key elements of the nuclear triad and plays an important role in strategic deterrence.

Separately, the Russian leader boasted about submarines with intercontinental ballistic missiles, which, according to him, are tools for “deterring any enemy, inflicting unacceptable damage on it in the event of aggression.”Read also:

Putin also mentioned the Russian icebreaking fleet, saying that it has no analogues in any other country in the world. In addition, the dictator reported on the progress of work on the Poseidon unmanned underwater vehicle. He said that the project is allegedly in the final stages and is close to being put on combat duty.

Russia uses Zircons in the war against Ukraine

As UNIAN previously reported, Russia has repeatedly struck Ukraine with hypersonic Zircon anti-ship missiles. According to the results of the analysis of reports from the Ukrainian Air Force and regional air commands, in the first 19 days of July, the Russian Federation has already used 20 of these missiles, or two-thirds of the annual production volume . For the whole of June, the Russians launched a total of 15 3M22 Zircon missiles. According to GUR estimates, in mid-July, Russia had more than 120 Zircon missiles in its arsenal.
