Putin blames Europe for starving the World, not his war on Ukraine 🇺🇦

In a speech to an economic forum in Vladivostok, he said Russia was coping with the West’s economic “aggression”.

But the Russian president warned the quality of life for Europeans was being sacrificed to sanctions while poorer countries were losing access to food.

He also said Europe was cheating poor countries out of Ukraine’s grain.

Robin Horsfall any thoughts, on how to end this war? It’s going to get harder through winter 🥶

Reply from Robin Horsfall:

“The only lasting way to end this war is to win it convincingly to show all tyrants that they cannot invade with impunity and then negotiate for peace.”

Comment from Adam Lee:

“Sanctions are starting to bite Russia hard. But it is true that European citizens may end up feeling their affect far more than originally envisaged in the short term given the current energy supply situation. The difference is that in the Europen democracies people pressure may influence politicians to ease up on the sanctions/support for Ukraine for fear of upsetting the electorate. That would be a huge mistake. Putin knows this and is willing to play the long game because he feels no political pressure whatsoever from the Russian people, they simply have no say in these matters and they will tough it out as they always have done. Europe should not fall into this trap.

European governments need to do all they can to help those who will really suffer this winter, but as a whole we should all evaluate our own reasonable energy needs and use this as an opportunity to force governments to finally find and invest in newer, greener and more sustainable energy sources. It is important for the people of Europe to stay strong and united and to take this negative situation and to try and make some lasting positive changes.”

  1. The European governments kind of dug themselves into this mess by shutting down their coal furnace/nuclear power plants. If they’re careful with containment, then even nuclear power is more “environmentally friendly” than bird-chopping windmills, or clear-cutting a forest to replace it with solar panels.
