Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved a national plan to combat corruption for 2021-2024. The corresponding decree was published on the official portal of legal information.
As part of the plan, Putin, in particular, proposed:
- improve the procedure for submitting declarations by civil servants;
- to prohibit the civil service for those who have been fined for corruption offenses;
- improve the verification of information about digital assets of officials;
- to restrict people with an outstanding criminal record the ability to manage the State Unitary Enterprise and the State Medical University ;
- organize training for businessmen to minimize the risks of falling under anti-corruption laws in other countries;
- engage in the creation of content on the Internet aimed at “popularizing anti-corruption standards” in society;
- start training in universities under the program “Anti-corruption activities”.
Putin gave the relevant instructions to the government, the presidential administration and other relevant departments.
The anti-corruption plan was first approved by President Dmitry Medvedev in 2008 and has been updated every two years since then. Since 2018, the plans have become three years old.
In the latest version of the annual corruption perception index, Russia shares 129th place with Azerbaijan, Gabon, Malawi and Mali. Since 2018, the Russian Federation has risen one line in this ranking.
