Ashraf Ghani, who has led Afghanistan since 2014, flew out of Kabul on August 15, when Taliban militants seized the capital and de facto the entire territory of the state without a fight. Where he is now is not known for certain. There were reports that Ghani flew to Tajikistan, Uzbekistan or Oman. The president wrote on his Facebook that he left the country in order to prevent bloodshed.
