In the south of Russia, temporary restrictions on electricity consumption have been introduced due to a failure in the operation of generating equipment at the Rostov Nuclear Power Plant. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Energy.
The restrictions were introduced “under conditions of increased loads on the energy system in order to maintain the stability of the energy system.”

Rosatom announced that one of the power units of the Rostov NPP automatically disconnected from the grid “due to problems with the turbogenerator.”
“The reasons are being investigated, the radiation background is normal,” the state corporation’s press service stated.
The publication 93.ru reports that the power outage has stopped tram and trolleybus traffic in Krasnodar. About 150 traffic lights are also out of order in the city. The Novorossiysk railway station is without power . The Krasnodar Municipal Control Center announced a power outage due to an accident on the power grid in the Western District.
Temporary power outages were also introduced in Sevastopol. Sevastopolenergo reported that this was due to “abnormally high air temperatures.”
Rostov NPP is the largest energy enterprise in the south of Russia. It is located 13 kilometers from Volgodonsk. The station provides about 75% of electricity production in the Rostov region.
