On the night of June 15, Russians attacked the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studio in Kyiv, destroying Ukraine’s largest and oldest costume collection. Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy and Minister of Culture Tatyana Berezhnaya reported this on Facebook .
“Another extremely serious crime by Russians against Ukrainian culture. Russia attacked the Alexander Dovzhenko National Film Studio in Kyiv, one of the oldest film studios in Ukraine,” she wrote.
According to the official, a fire broke out, and as a result of the attack, the costume shop and other buildings of the film studio were damaged.
“The largest and oldest costume collection in Ukraine was destroyed. The studio contained approximately 100,000 costumes and three million pieces of various clothing,” Berezhnaya noted.
She emphasized that rescue and emergency services are working at the site, and measures to eliminate the consequences of the attack and ensure security are ongoing.
“Russia continues to deliberately attack not only civilian infrastructure and civilians, but also the cultural institutions that preserve Ukrainian identity, memory, and history. The destruction of cultural centers is an attempt to attack the memory, history, and identity of the Ukrainian people,” the minister added.

The film studio posted a photo of the attack’s aftermath on its Facebook page.
“The terrorist country continues to wage war against the A. Dovzhenko Film Studio. The costume department and other buildings have been destroyed,” the statement reads.
