In Odesa, a part of a residential high-rise building was destroyed due to a drone attack by the Russian army in the city, and it is already known about seven injured and several dead.
As reported by the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine, in the middle of the night, the Russians carried out another terrorist attack with kamikaze drones of the “Shahed-131/136” type. The enemy sent eight attack drones from the Black Sea to Odesa. It is said that for an hour the air defense units intensively repelled this attack. As a result, seven targets were destroyed. Unfortunately, one of the drones hit a 9-story building in a residential area during maneuvers in the residential areas of Odessa.
“Part of the entrance to 18 apartments has been destroyed. It is already known about the dead person and 7 injured, including a pregnant woman and a small child,” the report says.
A search and rescue operation is currently underway.
According to the press service of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in the Odesa region, there are people under the rubble. As of 07:00, 7 injured persons have been rescued, and the bodies of 2 dead have been found. Work is being carried out to analyze the rubble and search for people. Psychologists work on site. Dog experts are involved in the search. The heating point is deployed.
20 units of equipment and 91 rescuers have been involved from the State Emergency Service, the work is carried out together with interaction services.
The Odesa City Hall added that engineering networks and the boiler house were also damaged, and nearby houses were disconnected from heating. According to Oleh Kiper, the head of Odesa OVA, one entrance was completely destroyed.
“Pregnant in moderate condition, three more people with multiple injuries are also hospitalized, among them a 26-year-old girl is in serious condition, the other two are in moderate condition. Doctors are doing their best. Three people, including a three-year-old child, are being treated at place,” the official said .
As Kiper reported at 8:31, the rescuers just managed to get the man out of the rubble. He is alive – at the time of hitting the enemy drone, the person was previously in the basement. The man is conscious, he is now being examined by medics. The search and analysis of the rubble continues.
According to the press service of the Odesa regional prosecutor’s office, it is currently known that 2 people died and 8 others were injured. A pre-trial investigation has been launched in criminal proceedings for violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 2, Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
“According to the investigation, on the night of March 2, the enemy launched an UAV attack on Odesa. The drone hit a 9-story building in a sleeping area of the city. Part of the entrance to 18 apartments was destroyed. So far, we know of 2 dead and 8 injured, including a three-year-old child.” , the message says.
Debris analysis and search and rescue operations are ongoing. There may still be people under the rubble, 6 residents of the building are considered missing.

UPDATED AT 11:03 AM. Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andrey Kostin arrived at the scene of the incident. He said that 12 more people, including four children, could be trapped under the rubble. Search and rescue efforts continue.
Kostin also noted that for the first time a drone caused such serious damage to a panel house. Previously, similar scales of destruction were only caused by missiles. Experts will look into the situation.
