The U.S. Department of Defense has ordered additional few thousand U.S. troops to be put on standby in case they are deployed to Europe due to the tense situation around Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) said, citing U.S. officials.
“The Pentagon has also ordered several thousand more troops be put on standby for deployment [to Europe], in addition to the 8,500 forces who received such an order last week,” the publication said.
The Pentagon is expected to announce later Wednesday that U.S. President Joe Biden has given formal approval to deploy additional forces in Eastern Europe.

Right on!
We will force Nazi-Russia to surrender. We see the danger and will never back downe.
Too bad they aren’t being sent into Ukraine. The effect would be massively stronger.
Not yet. All options are on the table.
This victory will ALL Ukraine’s and afterwards the Moskali won’t be able to say, “The West” helped you or Ukraine became “Puppets of the USA…”
First, I don’t think Vladolf is going to invade, he might do a quick destruction run but then run home quickly like bullies do. But I think by the small chance that he moves in and it looks like Ukraine will lose, I think all hell will break loose and NATO will send in the kitchen sink. There is NO WAY NATO will let him have a victory after being embarrassed in 2014.
I wish I had your faith in NATO’s resolve, Red. I simply don’t believe that this garbage alliance will even so much as lift a finger. It will be individual nations, if anything, who will do whatever they can to help. Of course, I would be quite happy to be proven wrong.
I agree. The US and a few others will save Ukraine, not Nato.
It seems to me, even cynically, NATO would not exist if Russia behaved like a normal country. Putin wants to break NATO so its now or never for them. If Putin invades and NATO sits on their thumbs then NATO will end up being a glorified version of the Red Cross.
I think that the friendship to mafia land has gone too far for certain NATO members. And, they’ve gotten too lazy about their defense needs, having relied for much too long on the United States for that. With such members in its ranks, its effectiveness is questionable, at best.
Oh absolutely Sir Facts, I’ve often proposed that if they don’t meet the 2% they lose their voting privileges. Then those that are abusing the system can’t veto.
That would be a very sensible rule. That was a big mistake, not having put that into the alliance’s regulations.
