Parubiy has been on the list for liquidation in Russia since 2022, – People’s Deputy

The former speaker of the Rada had already survived one of the attacks, Viatrovych said.

The murder in Lviv of former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy is one of the elements of terror perpetrated by Russia against Ukrainians, People’s Deputy Volodymyr Viatrovych stated on Kyiv 24 .

“I think this is entirely connected with the events that are happening now, with this war. Just as Ukrainians are now being massively intimidated by massive bombings. Likewise, now with these targeted killings in the city center in broad daylight – this is also an element of intimidation that Russia is trying to use. In order to break Ukrainian society,” Viatrovych said.

He added that Parubiy had previously survived an attempt on his life.

“It seems that in 2015-2016 there was an attempt to kill him with a grenade. Andriy Parubiy has been on the list for elimination by Russia since 2022. And for some time he even had security around him. It is very unfortunate that there was no security now, or for some reason this security was removed. Therefore, I think that Andriy remained a dangerous enemy for Russia,” Viatrovych said.Read also:

According to the People’s Deputy, one of the reasons why Russia could have organized this assassination attempt is that Parubiy was “the most outspoken and principled” Ukrainian politician.

“This is a person who has always been absolutely value-oriented, adhering to his value-based national orientations. Starting from the late 80s, when he joined the public and political movement. A person who did a lot to ensure that fundamental decisions for Ukraine, such as European integration, were adopted at the legislative level, and it was under the leadership of Speaker Parubiy that this was done. The person was involved in the adoption of laws on decommunization, the implementation of the law on the Ukrainian language as the state language. Parubiy’s murder: what is known

A special operation “Siren” has been announced in the city.

A video of the moment of Parubiy’s murder was released online . It shows the killer, disguised as a courier, following the victim for some time. At some point, the attacker pulled out a gun, fired several shots, and walked in the opposite direction.
