There were two thermal power plants in the city, one was knocked out a few weeks ago, and now, apparently, the second one has been knocked out as well.

Parts of Belgorod and the Belgorod region were left without power following a strike by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the local Luch Thermal Power Plant, according to Russian Telegram groups.

“According to preliminary data, the missile strike damaged the gas turbine units that generated electricity at the Luch Thermal Power Plant. Prior to this, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed the gas turbines at the Belgorod Thermal Power Plant. Until today, Luch remained the only thermal power plant in the city that continued to operate,” the Pepel.Belgorod channel reports , adding that other reports indicate only transformers were damaged, and power will be restored quickly.

Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov indirectly confirmed the attack on the thermal power plant, but in a manner typical of Russian officials. He said Russian air defenses shot down some air targets, but “falling debris caused several garages to catch fire.”

“Furthermore, there are power outages on a number of streets. Power is also out in part of the village of Dubovoye in the Belgorod district. More than 20,000 residents are without power,” Gladkov said, without specifying whether the loss of power in half the city was due to a garage fire or Russian air defense.

  1. I’m very glad this happened to the cockroaches. I will be even happier when I see the main cesspool, moscow, in darkness.
