The Élysée Palace, after French President Emmanuel Macron’s statement about the possibility of sending troops from Western powers to Ukraine, insists that Kyiv’s allies “should discuss” this issue.

Details: As the source explained to journalists, with his statements, Macron signalled his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin about his determination and desire of France to prevent any victory of the full-scale Russian invasion.
The source stressed that the French president did not talk about the actual departure of troops, and no decision was made on this, but there are “all sorts of things that were ruled out two years ago, and which are no longer ruled out.”
The Élysée Palace also commented on the upcoming debate in the National Assembly on France’s relations with Ukraine, adding that they will consider the consequences of the war in Ukraine for French security.
Background:
- French President Emmanuel Macron has not ruled out the possibility of sending Western troops to Ukraine in the future after a meeting in Paris on Monday, emphasising that there is currently no consensus among allies.
- A number of European states and NATO have since stated that they do not plan to send any troops to Ukraine.
- Onno Eichelsheim, Chief of Defence of the Dutch Armed Forces, believes that there is no point in discussing the deployment of Western troops to Ukraine at this time, but that the allies should be open to all possible options.
- Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Russian president, stated that the presence of NATO troops on the territory of Ukraine would lead to a direct conflict between the Alliance and the Russian Federation.

As I’ve said before, Macron is a big surprise for me, seeing the lukewarm aid that he’s sent to Ukraine thus far. Paris has come to realize that the United States has been practically kidnapped by moscow via Trump and Johnson, and so Europe is forced to take even radical steps to prevent a victorious mafia land. Thus, the talk about Western ground troops in Ukraine should not be refused outright, like most European leaders are doing. This means that cowardice in European capitals is still running rampant.
Paris is seeing the truth that it’s better and easier to stop the roach army in Ukraine rather than at its borders. Unfortunately, Scholz is still crapping his pants and when his amateur army is forced to dig trenches before Berlin, then he will have an even better reason to do so nonstop. Britain’s Rishi is also asleep at the wheel.
Go figure, it’s the country known to wave white flags that’s started this controversial topic. I think that it might gain traction if things will get worse in Ukraine. I hope it will never have to come to this.
I am disgusted with Rishi, who is no Boris, but so far hasn’t put a foot wrong. NEVER RULE OUT ANYTHING. It always helps the putinaZis. Back in 2022, Biden put out an OpEd in the New Orc Slimes that was a blueprint for inaction. What America will and will not do in Ukraine: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/05/31/opinion/biden-ukraine-strategy.html
What Biden did in the beginning of this war – even before that – was so incredibly stupid that it blew my mind. You NEVER let an enemy look at your cards like that.
“the most important national security issue for us not to have a common border with Russia because there are bad memories of such periods in history” V. Orban (particularly ironic!)
“Israel is working toward supplying Ukraine with early warning systems” for protection against Russian missile strikes and drone attacks. We are forced to develop expertizing in this field, and we are ready to share our capability with our Ukrainian friends in need,” Gilad Erdan
Several notable shifts in position in a few hours. To clear his conscience before everything collapses, or a real desire to change things?
this cowardice which petrified the West and the so-called free countries was a shame. We have only shown weakness. And now, as we stand on the edge of the precipice, we puff out our chests. Better late than never, they say.
My God! Ukraine must be saved at any cost!
“Netherlands Chief of Defence: Sending Troops to Ukraine is Last Resort for Allies”
That’s the reasonable view. We’re not at that point yet. And with increasing Nato defence production and bigger deliveries of arms and ammunition, it will never come. That has to be the focus and the highest priority of Western democracies now. Macron, too, should get his country’s production ramped up. So far, France hasn’t led in this regard. That needs to change.
With allies taking a year or two to go from talking about it to doing it, sending troops must be discussed now. IMO a sizable force should have already been retained and expanded by surge.
That’s a good point, Sir Bill. You have to have a lot of patience between when the West starts talking and for action to happen.
