The parameters of the Ukrainian cruise missile , known as “Long Neptune”, have become known . In particular, the missile’s range and the weight of its warhead have been accurately announced, write experts of Defence Express .

It is noted that at one of the interactive exhibitions currently taking place in Kyiv, the complex itself and the missile for it are shown under the “Weapons” logo. Experts reported that the complex received the “Neptune D” index, and the updated missile for it is RK360L. Its flight range is determined at 1000 km, which is 3.5 times more than the declared 280 km for the anti-ship version of the R360 anti-ship missile, analysts noted.

“But, despite the multiple increase in the flight range, the weight of the Long Neptune warhead, the RK360L, has also increased – 260 kg versus 150 kg in the anti-ship version. And this is really a very unexpected surprise, because usually a longer flight range of missiles is achieved precisely by reducing the warhead,” they write.

Experts emphasized that in the Neptune D missile, the developers simultaneously solved the problem of increasing the range and increasing the weight of the warhead’s power. Read also:

“Moreover, this means the technical possibility of increasing the total weight of the warhead at the cost of reducing the volume of fuel tanks and flight range,” Defense Express emphasized.

In addition, thanks to previously published photos, experts found out that the length of the RK360L is 6 meters (without the accelerator), which is about 1.5 meters more, and the diameter of the body has increased from 38 cm to approximately 50 cm.

“Another very important aspect is the indicated possibility of hitting both ground and sea targets. That is, the missile continues to have the ability to hit moving objects. At the same time, the guidance system has not been disclosed, but due to the note on the possibility of attacking ships, it is possible to assume that the active radar homing head of the RK360L has remained,” the analysts write.

They also reported that to ensure the flight of the Neptune over the dry land, “a complex and complex task was solved”:

“Firstly, flight over variable terrain is provided, which is much more difficult than flying over a flat water surface. Secondly, the possibility of flying along a specified route without satellite navigation is provided. Thirdly, the possibility of accurately hitting a ground target, which is much more difficult than aiming at a large metal object against the background of the sea. And in addition, in the RK360L – the range and weight of the warhead have been simultaneously increased.”

Parameters of Ukrainian cruise missile “Long Neptune” became known

As UNIAN previously reported, back in March 2025, it became known that the new Neptune missile had been tested and successfully used in combat. At that time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the missile’s strike range was one thousand kilometers. 

In August, the R-360 “Neptune” missile, known unofficially as “Long Neptune”, was officially shown for the first time in Ukraine . On Ukraine’s Independence Day, a video appeared on the official account of the state portal “Zbroia” (Weapons), which probably demonstrated this particular ammunition along with other samples of domestic weapons. The official characteristics of the new missile were never disclosed at the time.
