Lloyd Austin believes that Ukrainian drones are effective enough to carry out deep strikes against Russia.
Ukraine should rely on its own drones to carry out long-range strikes deep into Russia because Western missiles are too expensive, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said at a briefing .
He noted that Ukraine had previously demonstrated the effectiveness of its long-range drones in carrying out such strikes, in particular against strategic ammunition depots in Russia.
“They are able to produce these drones in Ukraine, dramatically increase their production. These drones have proven to be very effective and accurate. You have to consider the fact that the cost of one precision guided missile in some cases approaches a million dollars, depending on the type. They can produce drones in large quantities for a small cost. So, when you look at the balance and the effects that are created on the battlefield, I think this is a great opportunity,” Austin said.
The head of the Pentagon noted that the Ukrainians can use their drones as they see fit.
