The threat of flooding has arisen for many settlements in this region of Russia.

In the Russian city of Orsk, the water began to gradually subside, but in Orenburg and other cities in the region, the flooding is only gaining momentum. According to RIA Novosti , in five hours the water level in the Ural River within the city of Orsk dropped by 8 cm.

The Ukrainian publication ” Schemes ” published satellite images taken by Maxar. They show the extent of the flood. The pictures were taken between the third and ninth of April 2024.

Current footage of the flood directly in the regional center, the city of Orenburg, located downstream of the Ural River, is also published by Russian media.

In addition to Orenburg and Orsk, the threat of flooding also looms over other settlements of the Southern Urals. In particular, it is reported that in the city of Kurgan the authorities are strengthening the banks of the Tobol River with sandbags. The city also turns on a siren, which calls on the local population to evacuate. And in a village called January 9 , on the outskirts of Orenburg, a dam is being hastily erected to protect against water.
