Russia has destroyed 50% of Ukraine’s power generation capacity – Ukrainian government.
73% of large thermal power plants have been destroyed or damaged by Russian strikes. Also, 20 hydroelectric power units are out of operation. This is 1.3 GW of capacity, the Cabinet of Ministers said.
For what purpose has the Kremlin practically destroyed and continues to destroy Ukraine’s energy sector?
As I said before, Russia has no way to counterattack the Ukrainian Armed Forces, so one of their main goals now is genocide of the civilian population: to make Ukrainian cities uninhabitable. Especially in winter, when the absence/severe lack of electricity will actually mean death for many Ukrainians.
‼️My guess is that Putin might use Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which Russia previously seized, as means of blackmail in the fall or closer to winter.
He may promise to return the plant’s capacity to Ukraine’s system in exchange for accepting his conditions.
Now, the main priority for Ukraine is to prepare for winter – we must provide critical infrastructure with electricity. Otherwise, millions of Ukrainian refugees will seek refuge in Europe during the winter.

The most effective defense is a strong offense and Ukraine must continue hitting the Ruzzians with serious damage to their oil petroleum industry in terms of pipelines, refining and distribution. This is not as difficult as it may seem and Ukraine has proven so in the last three months.
The Ruzzian oil system is very stupid because it is built on concepts from the Russian USSR, who were never known for their brilliance in product storage or distribution. We put pipelines in Alaska because of environmental concerns. RUZZIA does it because its easier. and cheaper. This leaves them highly exposed. Most refineries in the West keep storage tanks miles away from the Refinery, with underground pipelines. Not Ruzzians. Why? Again cheaper and less work. These and other factors make them sitting ducks. One drone directed at storage facilities and Good Bye Refinery. Keep up your fine work of destroying Ruzzia’s oil production money machine.
