Moscow has launched a campaign of intimidation against the West using all available means.

Russia has openly threatened to strike at Polish territory against the backdrop of today’s shelling of Ukraine . The corresponding statement was made at a briefing by the official spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

On November 13, a large air defense base, Aegis Ashore, was commissioned in the Polish town of Redzikowo on the Baltic Sea coast. It is part of a larger NATO missile defense shield designed to intercept incoming missiles. The base is also said to house American ballistic missiles.

A Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said Moscow could target the military base.

“Considering the nature and level of threats posed by such Western military facilities, missile defense in Poland has long been included in the list of priority targets for potential destruction, which, if necessary, can be carried out using a wide range of the latest weapons,” Zakharova said.

As RMF24 writes , the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already responded to this statement. The spokesman for the ministry, Pawel Wronski, emphasized that the base in Redzikowo is purely defensive in nature. It is designed to counter ballistic missiles, especially from those countries “that are rogue states.”

“These are countries that base their policies on constantly threatening someone, declaring that they will invade someone, and believe that such political robbery is their way of conducting politics,” he emphasized.

Vronsky also added that if these threats are repeated, the US and NATO will have to strengthen the air defense of the entire eastern flank of the Alliance to make such threats unrealistic.
