According to him, each side “will have to give up something.”
On Monday, the Senate voted to confirm Marco Rubio as the new Secretary of State. According to CNN , after the vote, he made his first statements about the war in Ukraine.
“We want the war to end. That’s very clear. You’ve seen the president talk about how he wants to be a president who promotes peace and ends conflict, and that’s not going to be easy either,” Rubio said.

The new US secretary of state said he could not give a timeline for the end of the war between Russia and Ukraine, but told reporters that each side would have to give up “something” – something he said was a natural part of resolving any conflict.
“I can’t put a time frame on it other than to say that in any case, to end a conflict between two sides, neither of which can achieve its maximum goals, each side will have to give up something,” he said.
At the same time, Rubio did not specify what exactly the concession to Ukraine would consist of.
“We’re not going to get ahead of ourselves in terms of the negotiations, and that negotiations at this level, with these stakes, are best done diplomatically rather than in public arenas. And obviously the parties involved, both the Russians and the Ukrainians, are going to have to make the final decisions about what they’ve agreed to,” Rubio said.
Asked how soon a cease-fire in Ukraine could begin, Rubio said it would be Donald Trump’s top priority and “some of the groundwork has already been laid”:
“That will be the president’s top priority, so it will happen almost immediately. In fact, some of that has already begun. There is hope that some of the groundwork has been laid, but it will be difficult. I mean, it is a difficult conflict, but it is a bloody conflict, and it has to end.”
Rubio also called Russia an “aggressor.”
“Russia is the aggressor in this conflict, but this war must end. And ultimately, this is the difficulty of foreign policy,” he said.

He has no idea either except given up the occupied lands……………
This ghastly new administration is teeing itself up for an imperialist war against a friendly country; Denmark.
Meantime a high-ranking team member who is supposed to be a ruZZia “hawk” is preparing to give land to a horde of cutthroats.
You don’t negotiate with savages by ordering their victim to give land to them ahead of the negotiations.
Fucking sick.
At one time I had a high regard for Rubio. Now I see his interest in only in Cuba calling it a terrorist state but forget about fighting the real terrorists. He’s just another moron of the maga idiots. Self serving MOFO.
This is already the most corrupt and lawless administration in the history of our former great nation.
“According to him, each side “will have to give up something.”
Indeed, the United States has already given up on something; its sovereignty, its integrity, and certain laws.
Also any remnants of honor
