US President-elect Donald Trump wants to rename the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America.” He announced this during a press conference in Mar-a-Lago.
“We’re going to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. It’s got a nice ring. It covers a lot of territory, the Gulf of America – what a nice name. And it’s appropriate,” Trump said.
He also repeated his call for Mexico to help stop illegal immigration across the U.S.-Mexico border and promised to impose tariffs on Mexico.

In addition, Trump did not rule out using the military to establish control over the Panama Canal and Greenland. Thus, when asked directly whether he would rule out using “military or economic coercion” to achieve his goal of conquering these territories, the newly elected president answered “no”:

Instead of renaming places and threatening neighbours, maybe Trump should be asking why the US has a trade deficit with 25 of its top 30 trading partners. I think the US will be in for a world of hurt if they apply tariffs to every country they have a trade deficit with.
Why not take it one step further by naming it the Gulf of Orange?
Trump can rename it what he wants, it doesn’t mean to say any country will recognise it. The French call the English Channel, La Manche, but no other country calls it that.
