Ukraine has created a new drone missile, the Snow Leopard. It is a continuation of the work of Ukrainian developers on this fundamentally new class of missiles and has added to the list of existing drone missiles, including
the Palanytsia and Peklo.
The appearance of a new weapon, which had not been previously reported, was announced by the Minister of Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin at the briefing “Ukrainian Weapons-2024”. At the same time, the technical characteristics of the Snow Leopard drone missile are still being kept secret.
According to the minister, a new drone missile called “Snow Leopard” was created in Ukraine in 2024.
“We have such cruise missiles and a class of fundamentally new missiles as drone missiles. This is “Palyanytsia”, this is “Hell”, this is “Ruta”, this is “Snow Leopard”, – said Smetanin.
“Snow Leopard”, named by the minister among the new developments, has not been previously reported.
In a comment to LIGA.net, the Ministry of Strategic Industry confirmed that “Snow Leopard” is a new Ukrainian drone missile. Its characteristics are currently being kept secret. There are no publicly available images of the new weapon.
According to Smetanin, back in 2023, Ukraine was only producing Neptune cruise missiles. However, a year later, Ukrainian developers created “a lot of new products,” which ensured eight times more production in 2024 than in the previous year.
Recall, earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine can produce air defense systems and missiles for them. For this, according to him, clear political steps are needed from partners – in particular, regarding the granting of licenses and the transfer of part of the production to Ukrainian territory. The remaining prerequisites for the deployment of such production in Ukraine are present.
