The Ukrainian military stopped the enemy offensive in Volchansk and surrounded the invaders, the publication writes.
Hundreds of Russian occupiers continue to be surrounded at the Volchansky chemical plant due to heavy shelling by Ukrainian glide bombs. Recently, 30 Russians surrendered, and about 400 more can neither run nor hide anywhere, Forbes reports .
It is noted that last weekend several enemy battalions tried to capture a chemical plant in the center of Volchansk. The city was the first major target of the Russian northern offensive, which began on May 10 and was likely aimed at the final capture of Kharkov. However, the enemy northern group of troops, numbering tens of thousands of soldiers, never managed to pass Volchansk.
“Several Ukrainian brigades, including the elite 82nd Airborne Brigade, marched north to meet the Russians. Re-equipped with ammunition rushed from the United States, the Ukrainians fought the Russians street by street, building by building – and in late May stopped their advance,” the material says.
It added that after weeks of heavy fighting in the city, Russian commanders took a bold step and ordered the seizure of the plant to use it as a base for an attempt to cross the Volchya River, which forms a natural fortification for the Ukrainians defending the southern part of Volchansk. But the Defense Forces thwarted the enemy’s plans and surrounded about four hundred invaders who were at the plant.
“Ukrainian aviation has entered the battle. MiG-29 and Su-27 fighters are throwing American or French-made high-precision glide bombs at the plant,” Forbes noted.
The Russians themselves compare the battles in Volchansk with the two most brutal battles of the entire war: in Bakhmut and Avdiivka. Then Russian aircraft dropped dozens of glide bombs on Avdiivka every day, forcing the Ukrainian army to retreat in February. Now the situation has repeated itself, but the Russians are now sitting under the “rain” of bombs, the publication notes.
As you know, we are talking about Hammer glide bombs. France recently promised Ukrainian fighters 50 of these bombs a month, and the United States has provided Ukraine with probably thousands of these satellite-guided, retractable wing bombs containing hundreds of kilograms of explosives.
“By smashing hundreds of Russian soldiers who are shuddering at a chemical plant, the Ukrainians are giving the Russians a taste of their own rules of the game. The standard practice of Russian aviation is the planned bombing of Ukrainian positions before a ground attack. Now it is the turn of the Russians to be afraid and hide in concrete,” the material concluded .
Volchansk in the spotlight: interesting things to read
As UNIAN previously wrote, the Russians fell into a trap in Volchansk . Now even the Ukrainian military cannot name the exact number of occupiers who were surrounded at a factory in the city.
“…A few days ago they said there were 30-40 occupiers. Then 100-200, and even later the media started talking about 400-500 occupiers. They are constantly trying to break out of the plant. However, due to the fact that our fighters took the passages from the plant are under fire control, they are not succeeding,” said DeepState co-founder Roman Pogorely.
UNIAN also reported that the invaders failed to establish a truly large bridgehead in Volchansk . According to military expert Pyotr Chernik, now the enemy bridgehead is a maximum of 10 kilometers.

Ukraine ought to save ammo. Those cockroaches are sitting ducks and will eventually starve to death or die of thirst.
