For the first time since 2022, Mykolaiv received a centralized supply of fresh water .

This was announced in the Telegram channel by the Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery – Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba, Censor.NET reports .

He recalled that after the Russians blew up a key water main, over half a million residents of Mykolaiv were left without a permanent water supply. To restore people’s access to fresh water, a new water main was built within a year.

According to Kuleba, this is an extremely complex infrastructure project:

▪️A new pipeline with a length of 136 km has been completely built – in two strands of 67.9 km each.
▪️Pumping stations are ready.
▪️In August, a test filling of the network took place in compliance with all technological standards. Today, fresh water is supplied to consumers.
▪️The system is protected from shelling, as much as possible in a major war, cable lines are laid underground, there are shelters for personnel, backup generators and modern equipment.

“I am grateful to Serhiy Sukhomlyn (head of the State Agency for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine. – Ed.) for his work. It was thanks to the expertise of the Restoration Agency that the cost of the project was reduced by over 2.5 billion hryvnias. It amounted to 6.3 billion hryvnias, which is 25% less than the initial estimate. We are directing the saved funds to other water supply facilities, in particular, the construction of water pipelines for the Myrivska and Tomakivska communities in the Dnipropetrovsk region, the Bolhradsky and Suvorovsky water pipelines in the Odessa region, as well as the water pipeline in Lubny in the Poltava region and in Vapnyarka in the Vinnytsia region. Their implementation will ensure stable water supply for over 180 thousand people,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasizes.
