My Proposed Response from Ukraine to the Presidential Transition Team

If the message of the United States is going to be “peace in the region over territorial recovery or you are on your own,” then the message of Ukraine must be the following:

“You were ‘with us’ when you asked us to disarm and we both signed the Budapest Memorandum as an accord to protect our sovereignty against Russian imperialism. But you were not with us when Russia stole Crimea and invaded Eastern Ukraine. You have barely been with us since the full scale invasion. Now you threaten to abandon us if we don’t give Putin a victory in Ukraine.

How is our circumstance different today? What are you really offering us?

And are you aware of the hypocrisy? For the last two years we have listened to those close to the President Elect claim that Ukraine is a puppet of the United States, when we are obviously anything but that. Our craving for independence and willingness to sacrifice everything for freedom has been absurdly reduced to a fantastical CIA plot by the same individuals now demanding our surrender.

Now the same people want us to truly be their puppet by giving up our own country for the financial interests of the United States in opening doors to Russia.

This will not happen.

Now as the world faces a growing access of evil between Russia, Iran, China and the very North Koreans who are presently dying in Ukraine assisting Russia, the United States will present itself as a nation of appeasement and capitulation?

Is this possible? Is it possible that the “give me liberty or give me death” nation would tell others to give their own homeland to butchers, rapists and mass murderers?

Is it possible that the “live free or die” country and “come and take it” leader of the world is so afraid of this axis of evil that they will follow the path of Chamberlain by handing lives and soil to ruthless bullies who will never stop until someone with intestinal fortitude stands up to them?

The United States is asking something of Ukraine they would never ask of themselves. And would they ask Israel to cede parts of their nation to the Hamas terrorists who horrifically murdered a fraction of the innocents murdered by Russia in Ukraine?

Ukraine will not enable war criminals, terrorists and enemies of the West to plunder and steal without consequences. Nor will we ever be a puppet of any nation again. That was the message in 1991. It was the message in 2014. It is our message today.

We will work with our European allies and rise to the occasion.

We believe that for any nation to be great again they must love freedom and fight tyranny. That is the story of Ukraine. We hope the United States will someday share similar aspirations and join us.

Slava Ukraini.

Bryan Lanza, a senior Trump adviser, told the BBC that the focus in US policy towards Ukraine would shift from territorial recovery to achieving peace in the region.

This comes after Ukrainian President Zelenskyy presented his victory plan to the partners, which explicitly refuses to cede any territory or sovereignty.

The US will request Zelenskyy to present a “realistic vision for peace.”

If Ukraine insists on regaining Crimea as a condition for peace, “you’re on your own,” Lanza said.

It’s just sad that the underdog in this war is treated as if they initiated the fighting and must accept the lecturing and orders from its, “biggest supporter.” Ukraine should not think the new American administration as a friend, but just another transactional player that will want Ukraine to do its bidding if they want the pittance of support that arrives late and with restrictions.

Mr. Lanza, Ukraine has never asked for American troops. Their personnel are doing just fine. If you followed this war daily you would know this. Ukraine does not need an American strategist to tell them how their future will play out. Ukraine needs true friends who provide unconditional support against a tyrannical and demented despot.

Ukraine could have kept all their land in the first place – AND avoided needless bloodshed, if they had only honoured the Minsk agreements they had already signed.

I did warn Ukrainians, several months ago, that their best bet was to talk to Russia and negotiate for peace, while they still had some leverage. I was roundly laughed at – but, now their leverage is completely gone, the only one still laughing is Putin.

Let this be a lesson to all who would listen to the US (and especially the UK). When a Western nation comes to you and encourages you to fight another country, you need to understand that the West can (and WILL) drop you like a hot potato, at any minute. They already did this with Afghanistan, with a very sudden pull-out that caused quite a bit of reputational damage for the US.

If you’re Poland, Finland or Sweden, thinking that NATO will bankroll your defence against Russia, you’d better think again: NATO just showed its hand, and rolled over like a cute little puppy dog. They will NOT defend you, so you’d better not even think of causing any more trouble with Russia.

The good news is that calmer heads might finally prevail here, and less war is a good thing for everyone. I’ll have to try my hand at making borscht!

So Trump thinks Putin will honour his promise not to be a bad boy any more😊

As Bolton said :- Putin sees Trump as an easy mark. And North Korea (which Trump ‘sorted’) .. now has 10k troops fighting with Russia.

How does Trump sort that little issue?

A bit of advice to DT – if you’re going to offer a deal to Putin – make it a deal that is a fair resolution- and make it an offer Putin Cannot refuse.

  1. Author of this response; DW Philips, like that other great friend of Ukraine Steven Moore, is a Reagan Republican.
What a pity this wing of the party has been superseded by the putler wing.

  2. “Is it possible that the “give me liberty or give me death” nation would tell others to give their own homeland to butchers, rapists and mass murderers?”

    It seems so.

  3. Politics always has been and might always will be a dirty business, but it’s never been so dirty until the orange felon came along.
I’ve always wondered how a people – like the utterly brainwashed and warmongering ruskies – could lower themselves so much to support yet another vicious dictator. I always wondered how so many can forget the bitter lessons from the past. Now, we have reached the same low level of depravity right here in the US. I wish I would never have lived to see this black period of our history.
I’m left looking for silver linings on the fat, dark cloud above our nation…
