A British fighter serving with Ukraine’s International Battalion of the 12th Brigade Azov lost his foot after stepping on a PFM anti-personnel mine. Faced with approximately 18 months in hospital or amputation, he chose the path that could return him to his unit sooner—and was back in Donbas in under six months.
Today, he leads a drone platoon operating heavy-lift Vampire drones. In this interview, he explains his decision, his return to Ukraine, how drones protect frontline infantry and why international donations save lives.“My foot will be forever in Ukraine. Best foot in Ukraine.”
