Musk, along with businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the newly created Department of Public Administration Efficiency, which will deal with government reform.
The newly elected US President Donald Trump announced new appointments in his administration . According to a post on the X social network , the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) will be created, headed by billionaire Elon Musk and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy .
“I am pleased to announce that the great Elon Musk, working alongside American patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE). Together, these two great Americans will pave the way for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, reduce redundant regulations, reduce wasteful spending and restructure federal agencies – necessary for the “Save America” movement, – said Trump.
The department will provide advice and guidance from outside the government, he said, and will work with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget “to bring about structural reform and create an entrepreneurial approach to government that has never been seen before.”
Trump said it would help root out massive waste and fraud in the $6.5 trillion in annual government spending.
He also stated that the work of Musk and Ramaswamy will be completed no later than July 4, 2026.
“A smaller government, with more efficiency and less bureaucracy, would be the perfect gift to America for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence,” Trump announced.
Trump’s new appointments
Earlier, Trump announced the candidacy of the new head of the Pentagon . He was 44-year-old Pete Hegseth, the host of Fox News and a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In the past, Hegseth has criticized NATO allies for their weakness, and has also opposed significant U.S. intervention in the war in Ukraine “so that Putin doesn’t feel on edge.”
As ABC News previously reported, Elon Musk has become an influential figure in Trump’s circle and now plays a significant role in shaping the future administration of the US president.
