The mayor of the city reports that air defense has been operating for several consecutive hours

On the night of July 7, Moscow came under a massive drone attack. Air defense systems have been operating in the city for several hours, according to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

What is known as of now

The repelling of the drone attack is ongoing. Air defense forces of the Russian Ministry of Defense have already shot down nine UAVs that were flying toward Moscow.

Emergency service specialists are working at the debris impact sites.

Restrictions at airports

At Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport, flights are being carried out only with the approval of the relevant services due to temporary restrictions on airspace use in the area of the airport.

Zelenskyy had stated that the end of the war could be brought closer if attacks on Moscow force Putin to leave the capital.

Ukrainian drones have already reached Moscow multiple times and struck important targets there. In June, Ukraine attacked the Moscow oil refinery in the Kapotnya area twice – the first strike was carried out on June 16, the second on the night of June 18. After this, the Moscow oil refinery is unlikely to resume operations until the end of 2026.

Also, recently, Russian media wrote that Ukrainian defenders are trying to shut down the last two oil refineries that supply Moscow with fuel.
