On the night of May 17, Moscow and the Moscow region came under attack by drones. Explosions were heard in a number of cities, Russians complained of fires, reports of possible damage to the Moscow Oil Refinery and a major semiconductor and electronics manufacturer, as well as an attack on an oil filling station and Sheremetyevo Airport.
Meanwhile, Russian air defense multiplied the consequences of the attack, hitting residential buildings: local authorities have already announced the deaths and injuries. The strikes on Moscow and the region, as well as the consequences of the attack, are written about by the Telegram channel Exilenova+.
A number of important targets were hit in the Moscow region
On the night of May 17, Ukrainian drones struck a number of important targets in the Moscow region.

In particular, Exilenova+ reported a strike on the Angstrem JSC plant in Zelenograd. This company develops and manufactures semiconductor products, from discrete transistors to microcontrollers and microprocessors. It is under US sanctions.

Meanwhile, the independent Russian publication ASTRA, having analyzed footage from the network, claims that the Elma technopark in Zelenograd has been attacked and is on fire.
“On the night of May 17, residents of Moscow and the region reported a large number of explosions. Fires broke out in Zelenograd. According to ASTRA’s analysis of footage from eyewitnesses, one of the fires broke out in the local Elma technopark. The footage was shot from Sosnovaya Alley, the distance to the fire source is approximately 800 meters,” the publication notes.

ASTRA also notes that the technopark website states that “the main types of activities of resident enterprises of the technopark “ELMA-ZELENOGRAD” are: production of electronic equipment, production of control and measuring instruments, optical equipment, processing of various materials, research and development activities, the field of information technologies, production of consumer goods.”
It is claimed that the technopark is home to over 150 residents. The total area is 60,000 m², and the land area is 6 hectares.
A year ago, in May 2025, the Micron microelectronics plant, which is under US sanctions, was damaged in an attack on the park.
A fire broke out in Zelenograd, which visually can compete with Tuapse and Perm.
In addition, Exilenova+ showed the moment of the alleged attack on the Moscow Oil Refinery.

This plant is capable of processing about 12 million tons of oil per year, meeting a significant share of the capital region’s fuel needs. It produces automotive gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, etc.
There were also reports of an attack near Sheremetyevo Airport in Khimki.

Some sources also wrote about a possible attack on the Raduga MKB plant in Dubna, Moscow Region. It is involved in the development of cruise missiles and other missile weapons for the aggressor state.

In the village of Durykine, the Solnechnogorskaya oil filling station caught fire after explosions.

The Falcon Insight community confirmed that an oil pumping station in Durikinom was attacked.
“The oil pumping station (linear production and dispatching station) of the Nagornoye/Sonyachnogorskaya oil and gas station was attacked. POV:56°03’06.56″N 37°07’33.45″E. JSC “Transneft – Verkhnyaya Volga”. It is part of the main oil product pipeline that provides transportation of diesel fuel and automobile gasoline in the direction of the Moscow region. The Nagornoye oil and gas station is an adjacent technological or pumping station located immediately adjacent to it within a single industrial node of critical infrastructure,” the message says.

Another video from Durikinoye was shot approximately 7.5 km from the LVDS.

Russian air defenses were pounding houses
Russian officials, meanwhile, announced the number of dead and injured in the attack.
Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov reported the deaths of three Russians and the injuries of four more.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, who “shot down” over 120 Ukrainian UAVs over the Russian capital overnight, reporting casualties, confirmed the attack on the Moscow Oil Refinery.
“According to preliminary data, 12 people were injured as a result of the drone strike. Mostly near the pass-through MNPZ, a shift of construction workers was affected. The plant’s technology was not disrupted. Three houses were damaged,” Sobyanin wrote.
Such figures do not seem surprising if you look at the footage of Russian air defense: it actively hit high-rise buildings.

Confirmation of Russian air defense strikes on residential buildings from the Russians themselves also appeared on the network.
The course of the drone attack on Moscow and the Moscow region
The fact that Ukrainian drones – conventional and jet – had visited the Moscow region and even Moscow became known at around 3:30 a.m.
A series of explosions were heard, in particular, in the city of Klin, northwest of Moscow.

Explosions also occurred in Zelenograd.
“The Moscow region is being bypassed by UAVs from several directions … The attack is ongoing, combined UAVs are involved in the raid,” Exilenova+ noted at around 4 a.m.
Smoke rose into the sky after the explosions in Zelenograd.

Explosions and smoke were also observed in the settlement of Dedovsk.

According to ASTRA, explosions were also reported in Lobnya, Naro-Fominsk, and even in central Moscow.
As OBOZ.UA reported, occupied Crimea also came under drone attack at night. Explosions could be heard almost throughout the peninsula.
