At the same time, the publication’s interlocutors are optimistic that the flow of weapons and the exchange of intelligence could be restored as early as next week.

US President Donald Trump has privately made it clear to aides that the signed mineral deal between Washington and Kiev will not be enough to resume aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine , NBC News reported, citing statements from US officials.

“Trump wants a deal that would give the U.S. a stake in Ukraine’s mineral wealth to be signed. But he also wants to see a change in Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s attitude toward peace talks, including a willingness to make concessions, including territorial ones. Trump also wants Zelensky to make some moves toward elections in Ukraine and, perhaps, to step down as his country’s leader,” NBC writes.

The U.S. has no indication that the suspension of intelligence sharing had a direct impact on the Russian attacks, the U.S. official and the administration official said. They said the major attacks were likely planned before the suspension of intelligence and assistance.

At the same time, both officials are optimistic that the flow of weapons and equipment, as well as intelligence sharing, could be restored as early as next week, especially after Zelensky said Ukraine is “ready to sit down at the negotiating table as soon as possible.”

Officials said the U.S. still shares defensive intelligence with Ukraine — information that helps Ukraine defend itself against attacks — but it does not provide information on targeting Russian targets.

Minerals deal

Earlier, Bloomberg wrote that Trump is ready to complete work on  the agreement on valuable resources  , provided that Volodymyr Zelensky agrees to a “real path to a truce and negotiations with Moscow.” And the new – additional – conditions are the reason that the agreement has not yet been signed, despite public statements by the US and Ukrainian leadership about their readiness to do so.

This week it became known that Ukraine and the United States will hold talks in Saudi Arabia on March 11. President Volodymyr  Zelensky stated that at the upcoming meeting in Saudi Arabia,  the Ukrainian side “will have a clear focus on constructiveness” and will do everything to ensure that Ukrainian interests are taken into account as needed.
