As a result of the Russian missile attack on the night of July 19, the Konvi Group’s printing plant was destroyed, and nearly 250,000 textbooks were lost.
According to Ukrinform, Konvi’s Commercial Director Viktoriia Haidai reported this on Facebook.
“The night of July 19 was a terrible one for Kyiv and devastating for the Konvi Group’s printing plant—one of Ukraine’s largest enterprises that prints school textbooks. Fortunately, none of the employees were injured during the attack,” the post reads.
According to Haidai, as a result of a Russian ballistic missile strike, the massive production halls were left without roofs, equipment in the printing and binding departments was destroyed or flooded, and the office spaces were completely gutted by fire.
In particular, the Russian attack destroyed nearly 250,000 9th-grade textbooks that were ready to be shipped to schools. Semi-finished publishing products with a total print run of about 350,000 books were also damaged, including 4th-grade textbooks.
Among the affected publishers are Ranok, Gramota, Litera LTD, Linguist, Knygolove, Laboratory, Artbooks, ASSA, Kalamar, Atena, Aston, BookChef, MISON, Vyshcha Shkola, Medytsyna, Apriori, and others.
“The enemy’s goal is clear—to insidiously disrupt the educational process in Ukraine and leave schoolchildren without books on the eve of September 1. They are waging war against our children’s education and Ukrainian culture. But they will not defeat us. We will stand firm and rebuild the printing house so that we can continue to provide children with everything they need for their education,” Haidai emphasized.
As reported by Ukrinform, a Russian missile strike on the night of July 19 destroyed the warehouse of the Knygolove publishing house, resulting in the loss of 250,000 books.
