Maria Zakharova called the information about Lavrov’s meeting with the Taliban in Moscow “a liberal lie”. According to her, the minister and the Taliban have not seen each other since 2019.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed that the head of the department, Sergei Lavrov, did not meet with representatives of the Taliban movement , recognized as terrorist in Russia, during their current visit to Moscow.

How much longer can our “liberal” and anonymous people lie that “Lavrov is holding talks with the Taliban in Moscow”? Why not with hackers? Why not on Mars?

Zakharova noted that the photo circulated on social networks, which depicts Lavrov and representatives of the Taliban, dates from 2019.

That photo, she said, was taken during a meeting dedicated to the centenary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Afghanistan, when “representatives of various political and social movements” of the country arrived in Moscow. Then, Zakharova noted, Lavrov had a short meeting with the Taliban delegation.

Now [the president’s special envoy for Afghanistan] Zamir Kabulov has met with the delegation that has arrived in Moscow. The inter-Afghan dialogue is a guarantee of stability in the region. It was about him that was discussed during the meeting. And also about the security of diplomats in Afghanistan.MARIA ZAKHAROVA

With a snapshot of Lavrov with the Taliban, his note on the visit of representatives of the movement to Moscow on July 8, in particular, was illustrated by Znak.com.

On July 9, human rights activist Marina Litvinovich filed a complaint with the CEC, demanding not to register the list of “United Russia” in the State Duma because of the contacts of Lavrov, who was in it, with a terrorist organization. The complaint stated, among other things, that “according to media reports, a delegation of the Taliban terrorist movement is planning a meeting with Sergei Lavrov on July 9th.”
