The dictator cited three reasons why an attack from Belarus would allegedly be undesirable even for Russians.
Self-proclaimed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin does not truly want to drag Belarus into a war with Ukraine, claiming it would do more harm than good. He made this statement in an interview with Al Arabiya English, according to Belta .
Asked whether he and Putin had discussed a new attack on Ukraine by Belarus, Lukashenko insisted the conversation had been entirely different.
“We’ve said many times that it’s absolutely unacceptable for Ukraine’s war with Russia to spill over into Belarus. For various reasons… And I can tell you verbatim what the Russian president told me: ‘We understand that Belarus’s entry into the war, into the conflict in any capacity, is unacceptable. It would do more harm than good,'” he said.
Lukashenko also explained the reasons for this position. Firstly, he said, Belarus is “very vulnerable militarily,” as it is “in plain sight” to the Ukrainian military.Read also:
“We understand perfectly well that our key life-support facilities—production and logistics—will be under attack. As they have stated, they have already identified 500 such targets in Belarus,” the dictator said.
The second reason, he said, is that the Belarusian people don’t accept war, saying it will kill many soldiers. The third reason is the significant increase in the length of the front line.
“The frontline for Russia, first and foremost (and, naturally, for us as well), if it were to attack Kyiv from Belarusian territory, would increase by 1,500 kilometers along the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. Under the current war conditions, we and the Russians will be unable to ensure the defense of this section,” Lukashenko said.
The Belarusian dictator also stated that if events develop in this way, NATO countries could deploy their troops to Ukraine.
“And this war will take on a new dimension. It will be a war between Belarus and Russia against NATO. Although I don’t rule out the possibility that it could happen without that,” he noted.
Answering the question of whether Ukraine has anything to fear from Belarus, Lukashenko assured that there is “absolutely nothing” to fear.
“And they know it, and the military knows it. The people, the people of Ukraine, know it. This issue is being fueled by some political ambitions,” the dictator added.

He forgot the main reason. If the potato farmer did try to invade Ukraine, his life would probably end shortly after.
