The Belarusian dictator presented his version of the origin of the Slavs.

The self-proclaimed “president” of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has discovered the “ancestral homeland of the Slavs” on Belarusian territory and has also called Belarusians a better version of Russians. The dictator’s press service cites the relevant statements.

“According to historians, Polesie is the ancestral homeland of the Slavs. This is where our origins come from. Here, on these steep banks of the full-flowing Pripyat, among endless oak forests and swamps, natural beauty – our roots, of our great people,” he said , speaking from the podium at an ethnocultural festival in Belarusian Polesie.

Developing his opinion, Lukashenko told those present that the Polishchuk (inhabitants of Polissya) concentrated all the best qualities of Belarusians. And Belarusians themselves, following Lukashenko’s logic, are better than the rest of the Slavs. At least, than Russians.

“Belarusians are hardy, strong people. Although I sometimes tell Russians that Belarusians are “Russians with a quality mark,” some of them even get offended. I say: well, you can’t stand against history, so why be offended?” he said .

According to the most generally accepted scientific version, the ancestral homeland of the Slavs was located somewhere in the area between the middle reaches of the Dnieper (Kyiv region) and the Vistula basin (modern Poland).
