Zelensky’s office praised Loomer’s trip to Kyiv and apologies for her previous comments following her meeting with Ukrainian officials
Far-right influencer Laura Loomer met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday after publicly reversing her long-held and outspoken opposition to backing Ukraine in its war with Russia, expressing support for the country in a visit to Kyiv.
Loomer, who is a loyal ally of President Trump, has frequently criticized U.S. military aid to Ukraine amid its years-long war with Russia, but she said experiencing air raid sirens firsthand while in Ukraine changed her perspective.
She apologized for her previous comments about Ukraine two days after Russia launched a deadly attack on Kyiv that killed 6 people.

“Just experienced my first air raid in Ukraine,” she wrote in a post on the social platform X earlier this week. “I feel like such an a–hole for minimizing the struggle of Ukrainians for the last 5 years. I often said I don’t care. Looking back, that wasn’t very nice of me to say.”
Loomer sat down with Zelenksy for an interview on her Rumble show, “Loomer Unleashed,” marking a striking reversal for the conservative influencer, who previously accused the Ukrainian government of supporting jihadists and of being “full of Nazi apologists.”
In a clip released from the interview, Loomer asked Zelensky about his contentious meeting with Trump in the Oval Office earlier last year, and the relationship between the two leaders.
Zelensky told Loomer that a brief meeting with Trump at the Vatican helped repair the relationship.
“It was a historic moment, because we changed the relations during 15, 20 minutes,” he said.
Trump appeared supportive of Loomer’s meeting with Zelensky, posting clips of the interview and writing, “Very good!!!” on social media.
Zelensky’s office praised Loomer’s trip to Kyiv and apologies for her previous comments following her meeting with Ukrainian officials, including Sergiy Kyslytsya, the first deputy head of the Office of the President.
“It takes courage to come to Ukraine and not be deterred by Russian propaganda or air raid sirens,” Zelensky’s office wrote on X. “Thank you, Laura.”
